A beautiful collection of 21 antique hand-pieced quilt blocks, each one individually stitched by hand and preserved in its unfinished state.

This collection includes an assortment of traditional patchwork designs in a wonderful mix of old cotton fabrics—tiny florals, geometric prints, stripes, solids and delicate shirting-style fabrics. No two are quite alike. Some are wonderfully precise, while others have the charming irregularities and imperfect points that come with handwork.

These were never assembled into a finished quilt and have remained as individual blocks, offering a glimpse into the workbasket of a quiltmaker from generations past.

Based on the fabrics and construction, I believe these pieces are early-to-mid 20th century, possibly 1930s–1940s, although their exact age and history are unknown.

Please expect evidence of age and previous storage, including loose threads, unfinished/raw edges, uneven stitching, fading, discoloration, small stains, age spots and other imperfections. Please review photographs carefully for overall condition.

These would be beautiful incorporated into a new quilt, made into pillows, framed individually as textile art, used for other sewing projects, or simply preserved as examples of early handwork.

There is something particularly lovely about an unfinished quilt—the hands that began it are gone, but the work remains, waiting for its story to continue.
